Skip Webb, Gumshoe Books, Antiquarian Book Dealer, Booth # 316, conducts a session on “How to Start Book Collecting”. The class is sponsored and led by members of the Antiquarian Book Dealer’s Association of South Carolina (ABDASC). ABDASC is an organization that fosters the appreciation and sales of antiquarian books, prints, and manuscripts and promotes professional and ethical standards for its members. You can visit members of ABDASC on the Antiquarian Aisle in the Exhibit Hall during the book festival.

Susan Litrel, author of two books featuring Jackie Tempo, Exhibitor Booth #106, will present her books. Jackie Tempo searches for her parents across time and space. This adventure-filled series inform readers on world, history, and culture. Susan presents her books and discusses what being an author of the series entails. www.jackietempo.com

Thomas Cooper Society, Exhibitor Booth # 415, presents a special talk about the Thomas Cooper Society at University of South Carolina. The Thomas Cooper Society is a community organization supporting USC's Thomas Cooper Library and its rare books and special collections. The Thomas Cooper Society serves as a volunteer support organization for the University's Thomas Cooper Library, encouraging community interest in the Library and promoting a fuller understanding of its purpose, programs, and potential. Opportunities for cultural enrichment are offered through a stimulating series of lectures, exhibitions, and special events. Through its generosity, the Society fosters gifts, endowments, and memorials to the Thomas Cooper Library, enabling the library to acquire distinctive and valuable materials for students and scholars. The Society publishes the Thomas Cooper Society Newsletter for members once each semester. Back issues are online on the Library Publications web site.
