Kick off the 2015 SCBook Festival with a fun social event promoting one of our featured books for the 2015 event, The Doom of Ravenswood by Archibald Rutledge.
Unseen by readers for a century, Archibald Rutledge’s story “The Doom of Ravenswood” is a harrowing account of the power of the natural world and the dangers for humans and animals alike to be found in the ominous swamps of the South Carolina lowcountry. A project of The Humanities CouncilSC benefiting the South Carolina Book Festival, this new edition of The Doom of Ravenswood is illustrated in handsome charcoal etchings by southern artist Stephen Chesley. Award-winning outdoors writer and noted Rutledge scholar Jim Casada provides the volume’s introduction, and outdoors writer and editor Charles W. Waring III offers an afterword.
Artist Stephen Chesley will be at the reception, and the original artwork will be on display and for sale. Limited editions of the book will also be available for purchase at the reception.
